Active Capital Company and management is acquiring a majority stake in Codi Group from Value Enhancement Partners (VE Partners) for an undisclosed sum. Codi makes and produces wet wipes for a wide range of consumer applications, serving both high end consumer brands and
retailers from production sites in Veenendaal and Venray, The Netherlands.
VE Partners has owned Codi since 2013, when it purchased the company from Suominen. Since then,
Codi has grown fast, both autonomously and via the acquisition of Incare in Venray.
“We are very happy to step up our growth initiatives and realize our ambitious strategy,” says CEO Erik
van Deursen. “Over the last years, Codi has successfully focused on internal optimization and broadening our customer base to create a solid platform for future growth. With the investment from ACC out of
its new fund, we have ample time and funds to realize our growth targets, both autonomously and via
Codi combines the 60-year-old business of Codi International and Incare as well as Sweeps, a unique
wet wipes brand formed in 2014 based on natural fibers targeting consumers on-the-go via multiple
convenience channels. Under its new ownership, Codi hopes to achieve its goal of becoming a top three
player in Europe.
Based in Amsterdam, ACC focuses on companies that are headquartered in the Netherlands, operating in industrial goods and services with revenues between €10-80 million. The company has experience
in nonwovens-related goods, and in January, it sold Lantor, a maker of nonwovens for the cable and
composites industry, two years after purchasing it. Under ACC’s ownership, Lantor grew quickly both in
the Netherlands and abroad and was sold sooner than expected when a knowledgeable investor, Cathay
Investment, was found.
Fibrix Acquires Custom Nonwovens
Fibrix LLC, a North American manufacturer of nonwoven polyester materials, has acquired specific assets
of Custom Nonwovens, Inc. (CNI) operating in Thomasville, NC, including personnel, multiple manufacturing lines and intellectual property related to the production of furniture and bedding products. This
acquisition excludes CNI’s manufacturing facility located in New Albany, MS.
With this acquisition, Fibrix increases its manufacturing capacity in the Carolinas and further establishes itself as a leading producer of nonwovens in the Eastern U.S. The additional resources will facilitate
faster deliveries and increased production capabilities. This acquisition is part of an overall growth strategy to establish manufacturing operations throughout the U.S., allowing Fibrix to better serve regional,
national, and multi-national customers.
The CNI transaction was completed April 21. Terms of the asset purchase were not disclosed.
WaterWipes Expands in U.S.
Water Wipes, winners of the 2017 Family Choice Awards, announced that they are now available throughout the U.S. and are the only wipes made with just two ingredients—99.9% water and 0.1% grapefruit
Water Wipes was founded by a concerned dad, Edward McCloskey, now CEO of Water Wipes, who was
looking for a better, chemical free solution for his daughter’s diaper rash. After five years of research, he
developed a breakthrough technology and patented water treatment process. The result is a softer wipe
with just two ingredients that is more convenient than applying water with a washcloth.
The wipes are manufactured in a cleanroom environment in a pharmaceutical-grade certified facility and produced in a sterile package. As one of the most well-known and loved baby wipe brands in
Ireland and the U.K., Water Wipes now brings that same pure promise to the U.S. with availability in
retailers nationwide. n
