out Nordson’s authorization, the above mentioned adhesive dispensing devices which
infringed Nordson’s respective patents. After
careful investigation and evidence collection,
Nordson filed patent infringement grievances against NDC, seeking both injunctions and damages. The main disputes in the
litigation focused on whether NDC’s accused
infringing products fell within the scope of
protection of Nordson’s relevant patents.
Nordson has recently secured the Court’s full
support in these Chinese lawsuits.
Nordson will continue to invest heavily in
research and development enabling break-
through technologies supporting its custom-
ers’ growth throughout the world. Protecting
Nordson’s intellectual property through se-
curing patents globally is a core component
of Nordson’s strategy assuring the ability to
leverage ongoing investment for the benefit
of its customer base. The actions noted above
and Nordson’s ongoing hardline against pat-
ent infringement confirms Nordson’s deter-
mination to protect its intellectual property
rights and maintain fair market competition
in China.
Suominen Announces Five-Year
Strategy
Suominen Corporation has announced its
strategy for the next five-year period until 2021, which aims at significant net sales
growth and elevating its profitability to a new
level. The key to this profitable growth is the
company’s continuous efforts to increase the
share of products with high added value in
its portfolio, while the path towards profitable
growth is supported by a robust competitive
edge, such as extended technological expertise, that Suominen has strengthened during
the past years.
Moreover, during the strategy period,
Suominen will examine opportunities to expand its business to new market regions, primarily to Asia.
The company’s new strategy is based on
three cornerstones—best in business, cre-
ating nonwovens that others cannot and a
community of changemakers—that describe
its ambition.
”From now on we can draw on the deter-
mined work done in past years. Our invest-
ments in product development, marketing
and customer interface as well as the largest
investments we have ever made in manu-
facturing technologies on three continents
have created sustainable competitive edge
for Suominen and, consequently, a good
foundation for our future success,” says Nina
Kopola, president and CEO. “Moreover, the
market outlook remains favorable: according
to recent independent forecasts, demand for
nonwovens will continue to grow, especially
in the applications Suominen is focusing on.”
In its last strategic plan, Suominen pledged
to grow its sales significantly through invest-
ments and subsequently announced line
upgrades in Brazil and Spain as well as a
massive new line investment in Bethune, SC,
which is currently coming onstream.
According to its new vision, Suominen will
change the way people think about nonwo-
vens.“When comparing nonwoven rolls, they
may seem like the same everyday products.
“However, every square meter of nonwo-
ven delivered from our plants to our custom-
er is packed with carefully selected features
that are tailored to match the needs of the
end user. We want to change the way people
think about the role of nonwovens in society
and we also seek to continuously surprise our
customers by introducing entirely new fea-
tures in nonwovens,”Kopola continues.
During the strategy period of 2017-2021,
Suominen will examine opportunities to expand its business operations to new market
regions, primarily to Asia. The Asia-Pacific region is the largest nonwovens market in the
world with a promising growth outlook. Currently, Suominen operates in the Asian markets only through sales agents and does not
have any production capacity in the region.
